Biography

Ayvee Baby is a Mestiza- American singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, and dancer. She received the RAW Artists OC Musician Of The Year Award Nov. 18th, 2011. Ayvee Baby plays in the pop music genre and incorporates world, hip hop, dance, neo soul and reggae styles into her records. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she was exposed to the theater arts environment and traditional music at a young age. As a child she participated in choir and attended music and drama camps every summer. Accepted into a competitive theater intensive following high school, Ayvee Baby was sought after for a live troupe and began to tour locally as part of an outreach program for teens. Performing in theaters, malls, and juvenile halls for her peers, she experienced huge growth as a person as well as an entertainer. Realizing she wanted to express herself beyond that format, she began to write her own songs and record them. Influenced by artists, dancers and producers in the local Bay Area scene, Ayvee Baby became inspired by hip hop and world music. She began to incorporate rapping and belly dancing into her repertoire. After moving to LA to pursue her passions for music and writing, Ayvee Baby co-wrote and performed a hip hop song "Get That Paper" with Sticky Fingaz (Onyx) for the score and rolling credits of the feature film Crossover. A trip to Jamaica with friends created an interest in reggae/dancehall music for her, and after a chance meeting with dancehall personality Skerrit Bwoy (Major Lazer) they released the pop/reggae/world single Lioness. Seeking more control over her art, she enrolled in music courses and is currently studying production and engineering. Ayvee Baby is working on a new EP Chiney Gal (2012.)
