This site was begun in late 1997 as a way for me to learn simple web development and design techniques, I was 17 at the time. Eventually the site acquired some message boards, show listings, the works, but it was hand updated. Anyone that has hand updated a website knows how much of a huge pain in the butt it is. I was working a job as web developer in Phoenixville at the time, so I put the skills I was learning at work to use in the site. I coded v1.0 of Pahardcore.com in ASP using an MS Access Database, and it worked well for it's time of use. Eventually the site was getting much more traffic than expected, so I ported the site to a Coldfusion/MS SQL combo, which has been working well. Coldfusion makes it simple to quickly add new features, and its ability to handle the 7000+ unique user sessions we get a day is amazing. Numerous large bands and labels send me their releases for reviews, bands constantly update their band entries, and the show listing is always full.

Now, the site has a new identity, Stereokiller.com. I changed the layout, name, and scope of this project to cope with the flux of new users. Pahardcore.com was too constrictive as a name, since we cover much more than hardcore, and much more than PA.

Who knows what the future has in store for stereokiller, but I DO know it will continue to get better and better.

Also, if you have a demo you want to send in, or anything else, mail it to:

DO NOT ADDRESS PACKAGES TO STEREOKILLER.COM OR PAHARDCORE.COM. THIS CONFUSES THE IDIOT MAILMAN.

FAQ
Q1) Why are there emo/punk/metal CDs reviewed on here?
A1) Because I will review anything, if I reviewed JUST hardcore the site would be boring.

Q2) I'm not from PA, why should *I* join?
A2) Because this site doesn't just focus on PA, we focus on music in general no matter where it's from as long as it is good. The people from the boards are from ALL OVER the USA as well as the world, so come on in.

Q3) Lambgoat is better at news than you, why is that?
A3) Because Lambgoat concentrates on news more than we do. We focus more on the community side of things: ie our message boards, profiling system, band directory, etc.

Q4) I sent in a CD and it hasn't been reviewed yet, why is that?
A4) I try to get to them ASAP, but i also get a lot of CDs, so it may take a week or so.

Q5) If i have some news to send in, who do I send it to?
A5) Myself, chris@stereokiller.com

Q6) Can we trade links?
A6) http://www.pahardcore.com/links/addlink.cfm

Q7) Why isn't your site as cool as makeoutclub?
A7) Hey, it ain't easy being cheesy.

Q8) Wanna cyber?
A8) Sure. But first I'll need proof of age, proof of birth, proof of gender, proof of non-ugliness, 3 large sized boxes of rice krispies, some petrolium jelly and a large shot glass.
