hipster points.

a fixed gear bike can be stopped by locking your legs up and skidding the rear.. its kinda shitty tho.

i bought the bike for riding tho.. so i'll stick with brakes.

I'm not sure which version I have, but it's a bit awkward at first. After a few hours messing with it I was fucking dudes up online while using. You have really tinker with the sensitivity to get it just right.

i keep a front brake, but ride fixed with no rear brake. i can't do the brakeless thing -- already been hit by a car once and the first thing the cop asked was if i had a brake, same with the lawyer. i use it as more of an "oh shit" thing though, not as a regular way of stopping.

with that combo, good weight balance, and strong legs, i can't think of any faster way to stop other than hitting a wall.

I still want a fixed bike, but the more I think a bout it, the more impractical it looks, as my area is a lot of hills and shit.

now that i think of it, it's kind of like downshifting while braking in a manual car. way faster than braking while in neutral.

i have to climb a hill no matter how i get to my house.. and yeah it sucks. but if you ride it on trails like the schuylkill its awesome. alot less boring then a freewheel.

and i agree with having just a front brake as an "E- brake" type deal.
