any idea how to do this...

i have a bass that i found out was a prototype to a model that was never put into production...well it was put into production but it was altered prior to hitting the streets.

i wanted to get an idea what the bass is worth. any ideas on how i would go about this?

good judge is how much you paid for it, unless you got it used from someone not knowing anything, chances are you know less about it than you think

i paid $1200 for it..yes it was used. i only know it was a prototype from the guys at modulus. since it has no truss rod i had to send it back to modulus about 7 years ago to get the neck straightened. they got in touch asking where i got it from because it was a bass that never went into production. they gave me the low down on it...i just want to know how much its really worth.

you'd probably have to ask the company, which they might hassle you because it's not their business to let people make tons of money off of their work in the event that the guitar is worth tons of money.

i'd imagine it would sell for more, but i don't know about anything astronomical

chances are the dude who had it knew what he had if the company was surprised to see it on the market, so the price you paid may be similar to the price you're looking to score

i didnt want to write out the whole story but i bought it from medley music in bryn mawr. apparently the owner from medley brought it from the namm show. some how it ended up on the wall. i ended up buying it (lay away) and while i was paying for it one of the sales people told me the story how it wasn't suppose to be sold. The story behind the guitar cracks me up actually. its quite ugly but the tone and feel is not like any bass i've ever played before.

Considering a new production model one is $2500... you could have a decent chunk of change on your hands.

If you explain the story behind the bass, I'd say that you could sell it for $1600ish. That's where I'd be starting, anyway.

if they're new 2500 and they're a good seller, i bet he could get retail value for it

I meant to say "at least $1600".

I really wouldn't be surprised if it sold for much closer to retail value. Especially with something that rare.
