maybe you went deaf?

i don't understand how the ipod could be affected by anything that could have gone wrong with your computer... were you updating it at the time?

um sounds extremely obvious but you have checked to make sure the mute box in the sound controls is unchecked, right?

haha, my bad. i just assumed he meant an actual ipod.

check your drivers/hardware settings, make sure there are no issues with your soundcard.

for xp:
start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager (look for and troubleshoot any yellow exclaimation points, question marks, red x's.)

start > control panel > sound and audio devices (make sure evrything looks right)

thanks Bonsai I'll check it out. I just got the ipod, loaded some songs, which played fine, the next day nothing worked anywhere. Songs on myspace won't even play.

If the actual ipod isn't playing, try to force a hard reset.

On the 4th gen and later versions, you hold the Menu (top) and Select (center) buttons down for 10 seconds.

Once the screen flashes back on, let go.

If that deosn't help, make sure you have it updated with the latest itunes.
