Some website is trying to go to bat for him saying it had to do with the promoters being "shady" but it apparently went off without a hitch for all of the other superfight competitors. Until something comes out from one of the other fighters saying that they didn't get paid or whatever, then it's just another thing to add to the Nick Diaz Crazy List.

He's become a liability now for promoters. Dana had a point by saying when Diaz no showed the press conference, that he was taking a huge gamble on him not showing up for the event itself. Obviously Zuffa would have owned Diaz in court if that had happen but to have your main event fighter not show up to the event would have been a financial disaster. Now it wasn't as big, money wise, for this event but you know a ton of people bought that $10 PPV just to see what Diaz could do in a BJJ tournament. I can't imagine how many requests for refund this promoter is going to get because of it. I won't be surprised if I hear that the promoter sues Diaz because of it.

Renzo Gracie was the promoter so I don't know what the deal is. BJJ is a close community, and I guarantee you this pissed a lot of people off. Renzo and Cesar are fairly tight so I'm sure they are both pretty pissed. Nick was even talking using BJ Penn leaving Ralph (Renzo's brother) as a way to get angry when they fought. Renzo is an icon, and I really doubt he was pulling anything even close to shady.

I would think the majority of those PPV sales were for the Diaz fight, and he made a big deal about donating his purse to charity. There were some issues with Braulio making weight, but he made it and everything was set. There were also a number of guys willing to step up and fill in for Nick at the last minute, but Braulio was super pissed and not having it. He called out Diaz for an MMA fight, but that will never happen either.

anyone catch the fights last night?

I dont think Jung is even close to ready for Aldo

7 people watched those fights outside of those in the arena because Fuel TV still is not in most people's homes. I almost forget completely about the Fuel fights because I don't know anyone that even has Fuel. It figures too because I heard it was a pretty amazing card and the main event is almost a sure win for fight of the year.

Ah i see, I had to buy another "package" from my cable company to get the sun of bitch. Yeah all the fights that I saw were pretty good, cowboy decimated stephens, saddalah (sp) somehow got the decision in his fight (which was the least "exciting" on the card), and yves jabouin is a beast!

I think that's a great fight. It's obvious that they are trying to make the Gran Prix be worth a damn. What would have been the point of having Cormier or Barnett win the thing to do nothing with it? This probably would have been Cormier's first fight in the UFC anyway because of the expectations that a champion should have coming into the UFC.

My only concern is what happens to Mir if he wins the belt? They've already come out to say that they've folded the heavyweight division in Strikeforce. Do they hold Mir around and have him be the only Strikeforce fighter under contract and defend the belt, or does the winner of this just leave the organization as the last Strikeforce HW champ?

yeah I think that's a great fight too!
you would think once it's over they'll just bring Mir, Cormier, and who ever they want from the HW division over to the UFC. . . .and strikeforce will go the way of the WEC with the next two years.
But what happens to the belt? I guess it gets folded into the UFC belt once the two holders fight
