Ok. He's medically licensed to smoke marijuana in the state of California. However, what we're talking about is what is deemed acceptable by the terms set by the NSAC. They have marijuana on the banned list. As a professional fighter it is your job to know what is banned and what isn't by each state/governing body, if you fail to do so there is only one person you can blame. Diaz has openly admitted that he smokes up to pretty close to a fight but always goes through the same ritual to get it out of his system. He's already tested positive once in Nevada, I would be taking extra precautions to make sure I pass the piss test in Nevada now. If he knew he could clean himself out in 5 days, he should have started 10 days out. It's silly and unprofessional to slip up on a drug test, especially a second time.
Now he's going to lose $80,000 and probably serve a year on the shelf. I don't know about you, but I couldn't afford to lose 40% of my pay and then be forced to either not work at all for a year or be forced to take a lower paying job until I'm allowed back at my real job. I mean if suspended Diaz has the option of either not working or making the little money to be made while he teaches lessons at the Gracie school.
Like I stated before, I fucking love pineapple but if the SAC said that pineapple was a prohibited, I would stop eating pineapple at the start of my training camp and I only fight amateur, my livelyhood doesn't depend on it. You would think someone who depends on the money would think the same way.
