The song Rudderless is one of my favorite of that genre. I associate so much that I've been through with that record... especially that song. Bit Part, too.
I seriously do not know because my dad would buy me singles and tapes. It may have been SWV's Sistas With Voices. I bought doggy style by myself and he made me take that back. :(
The first CDs bought for me were the first jock jams, Dark Side of the Moon and the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack.
Cher Chez La Ghost was one of the first mp3's I downloaded/stole. I still have it.
I was late with vinyl because my dad didn't buy me records. He didn't want me touching his record player and rightfully so. So Portishead's Third was my first record.
M.C. Hammer tape in 1st grade or so. I also sent in for a square Ghost Busters record off the back of a cereal box in kindergarten/first grade. I didn't get a CD player until 6th grade, and I remember going to CD Alley in Wilmington to buy Skankin Pickle's green album, MXPX Move to Bremerton, NOFX Liberal Animation, ans Pennywise self titled. Birthday money blown in 5 minutes.
i somehow or another inherited my brothers rage against the machine-evil empire and wu tang cds when i was like ten.
slayer god hates us all is the first cd i remember getting at the store with my own money. i had bought other cds before but that was the first one where i was thinking i'm gonna get talked to if someone sees this cd in my room. haha i'm young and it was all downhill from there so to speak.
