Indeed, I thought they were just going to show a bunch of the wights but I'm glad they went for it instead. For being all CGI it looked very impressive.

A naked man keeps few secrets, a flayed man keeps none.I think it was still implied that the bastard of Bolton took winterfell and burnt everything, with the iron islanders leaving theon to the bolton army and escaping rather than fighting a hopeless battle.
And while it was totally different from the books, I really enjoyed the house of the undying sequence.
Loved the ending. I thought Sam was about to go all dragonglass on everyone.
Seems like they are sticking to all the major story arcs for all of the main characters so far. The last half of next season is going to destroy television.
