Not true at all. You can find copper in basically any trashed appliance. I go scrapping at least every other week and make at least $200 each time. A lot of stuff seems trivial and worthless, but it adds up. And cords or wires to appliances are made of copper wire. You can scrap any and all types of metal, but a lot of it goes for like less than 2 cents a pound. If you can separate your metals and know what's what, you can come out making pretty decent money. I know dudes who basically dumpster dive all day and make between 3-400 a day scrapping.

Right now at the place I go to, #1 copper is going for $3.10 a pound
