There's a deli called Bernie's in Fairfax, VA that I am convinced has the best fresh mozzarella on the east coast. Get that on a baguette with turkey and other fixings and I get to experience heaven each time I eat there.

Muenster or mozzarella on grilled cheese is great and its hardly pretentious.
