Just what the world needed, another deathcore band. Hailing from San Diego, CA, Burning The Masses unleashes to the world their debut full length entitled, Mind Control.

There isn't really much to say about this band that I couldn't say about any of the million other bands in the genre. Technical parts in vain of Necrophagist interrupted every time by a chug filled breakdown. Vocals are full of a mediocre attempts at the low end growls of death metal. If I had to sum Burning The Masses up in one easy description would be a slightly less technical Beneath The Massacre.

Now that I got through the generic qualities of the album I can move onto some of the finer notes of this band. To start the production is great. I read that it was recorded by Stephan Hawkes and mixed by Logan Mader. Though they have not been known to work with the greatest band list separately they have been part of some great production. 2nd and the best thing going for this band is their musicianship and talent level. Now it's not really a stand out element in itself but when you find out that not one of the band members was over the age of 18 at the time of recording, it will definitely make you appreciate the technical aspects a lot more. Sadly, in 2 years or so this little intrigue factor they have going for them will be wiped cleaning away and they will have to resort on writing far better songs.

Like I stated earlier this is a paint by numbers deathcore band. You can skip this album completely and you wouldn't miss much. If you are however a fan of bands like Suicide Silence, Beneath The Massacre, or As Blood Runs Black then you will probably enjoy this record. There are plenty of mosh parts for you to practice your moves in your bedroom too.
