Cynare are a modern band taking an old, yet refreshing take on metalcore. This five piece out of Washington revisit the 90's Bremen styled hardcore made popular by bands like Systral and Acme.
Pronounced (sin-Ar-uh), these guys are crusty and evil. They showcase the chaotic side of metallic hardcore without it falling apart. Too many bands playing this style of chaotic hardcore often have trouble keeping the song together. Cynarae do it tight and that makes a world of difference. The band also throws D-beat elements that help single them out even more. The pace keeps up for the majority of the record, but dips into some dirgey moments that compliment the feeling of the record well. As far as execution and production these six songs are top notch. Not too dirty and not too clean.
The record closes out with the track "Earanyc" which is the whole record played backwards. I don't get it, and I'm not going to pretend to. I don't even know why I am telling you.
This is a relatively short review for a rather complex album, but I guess that will let me save some words for them on their upcoming split with West Virginia's Ancient Shores later this year. If you like real 90's metalcore you'll love this.
