This is the 2007 debut release from New York's Disnihil. Darker and heavier than most hardcore bands coming out of New York, Disnihil does not take the usual NYHC approach. The music on Parasites is a much more raw, down tuned, D-beat style of hardcore.
The album starts in with nice brooding riffs straight in to a hold on to your ass eight song machine. The record is pretty damn fast discordant hardcore and sounds like it came straight from Sweden. The vocals mix between yelling and low shouts and seem to come in at all the right places. The vocalist knows when to shut up and let the music take the spotlight. The lyrics are clearly dark and pissed, "plowing on in vain wrecked with unending pain. concealing abject despair every fucking day", is just a sample of the intense negative demeanor of the record.
I'm not sure if this band is still putting out music, but I sincerely hope they are. They followed this with a 7 inch called Future Cancers on Lifeline Records. I'm looking forward to hopefully finding more material from these guys. The aggression these guys show is what every crusty hardcore band is trying for and they deserve some recognition for it.
