Ghostlimb - Confluence

Ghostlimb released the first in a trilogy of new albums with 2011's "Infrastructure" and have followed that up with "Confluence". One of my biggest criticism's with modern hardcore bands is their inability to progress. While I understand that progression in hardcore can only go so far before sounding like nu-Pantera, (I'm looking at you Throwdown and Hatebreed) Ghostlimb manages to sound diverse without being a pussy about it.

The production compliments the album heavily, with thick guitars and aggressive drums that near distortion from time to time. The album overall sounds brutal and flows well from song to song. All this talk about diversity shouldn't lead you astray, as Ghostlimb is still bringing it hard with their thrashy hardcore jams. Vitriol mastermind Justin Smith's vocals are rough and brutal as always, and manages to still separate his work in Ghostlimb from that in Graf Orlock and Dangers.

I highly recommend checking this album out, as it is streaming in full on Vitriol Records bandcamp page. I look forward to what Ghostlimb has in store in its final installment in this trilogy of albums. Check it out.
