Make Do And Mend - End Measured Mile

Make Do And Mend released End Measured Mile in late October and since then it hasn't left my rotation. It is the type of album with hooks that get stuck in your head for days.

What sticks out the most to me with this band are the vocals. Granted the singer does sound a lot like he's in Hot Water Music, but he's got me believing every line he shouts. In particular the song "Oak Square" which is about the sacrifices people in bands make and the life they miss while out on the road. The album is filled with lines like: "Now there’s something to be said for a firm lack of common sense/cause god knows getting in the van isn’t paying rent/And now my older friends are all getting married with kids/and I’m just stoked to play a basement". If that doesn't resonate with us mid-twenty somethings I don't know what will and you might want to check your pulse.

End Measured Mile is easily in my top 5 for 2010. Give it a spin and it's sure to be up there with you as well.
