Mindless Self Indulgence - How I Learned to Stop Giving a Shit and Love Mindless Self Indulgence

It has been quite a while since I actually cared about a mindless self indulgence record. The last few records they put out have been pretty uninspiring. As many bands have decided to do, they started a kickstarter to fund their latest album. They said it was to write an album how they wanted to without a record label telling them what to do.

As with every new record they release I give it a listen with the thought that I will hate it and will never live up to the early works of the band. While this isn't exactly like their early work it does remind me a lot of their arguably best (although not necessarily my favorite) album "You'll Rebel to Anything." Its got the heavier parts and the same sarcastic lyrics.

The vocals are as spazzy as ever and has really perfected his style. They still have the heavy electronic parts while still keeping the heavy guitar parts. Not quite electronica but not quite industrial. Truly a band that stands on its own in genre.

Although they are marketed towards the mall kids and frequenters to Hot Topic, I find it hard to not like them. This album especially reminded of what made me like them in the first place. Catchy music that strays from the norm while having relevant lyrics. Fans will love this and haters will probably still hate it. I personally loved it.
