Snowing - Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit DEMO

Man, after Fall Out Boy hit the scene, everyone thought that emo went the way of punk (you know, as in punk is dead.) A lot of people probably thought that it was better off that way. Those are the same people who had been inundated with bands such as My Chemical Romance and Panic at the Disco claiming to be emo.

This is the emo that I used to listen to. None of that horseshit pop/rock garbage flooding the radio. Luckily, the style of music that Cap'n Jazz and Braid were playing in the 90s seems to be making a comeback. Enter Snowing, four dudes from Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

Let me start off by saying, if you're looking for some reinvention of emo music, this is not the album for you. This is straight up, old school shit. An off-kilter singer yelling lyrics about love loss, friends dying, and awkward teenage years, guitar driven tracks featuring sing along parts, and plenty of passion.

The songs on this five song demo are all short, sweet, and to the point, the longest one clocking in at just under three minutes. I guess a concise overview of this album is that Cap'n Jazz worship has never sounded so fucking awesome. Can't wait for a full length from these guys.

good review, but it could use less of the "i'm old-school and listened to this shit back in the day" attitude, because it's a review and not a dick throwing contest, and besides i would venture to guess that most of the people on this board listened to this shit back in the day anyway.

also great new band.

that was more for the casual listener that stumbles upon this review. people on this site seem to have a pretty decent taste in music overall.

if you dig these dudes, check out malegoat and street smart cyclist. malegoat is more or less a japanese cap'n jazz. i've been way stoked on them lately.

who knows, the label that is supposed to be helping us out is leaving us out to dry and has pushed it back a bunch. there are a bunch of tour CDs and tapes of the recording floating around so it might leak soon.

i dont wanna sound like an old codger. BUT, i really could do without a kid born in 1988 telling me what old school is, and how this is the "straight up, old school shit." Also, i seriously doubt you were listening to anything besides what your parents played for you for the majority of the 90's. since you were, you know, 7 years old when braids first album came out. how bout in the future a little more description of the music, and a little less history lesson.

i was simply referring to the fact that this is the emo music that i enjoy listening to. i don't listen to much emo now, but when i did, i listened to bands like braid, cap'n jazz, so on and so forth. that's what i meant by used to. i described the music to the best of my ability by comparing it to another band. sue me.
