Picking up this review for Summer Hours "Alone Together" I initially thought I was in for the typical indie rock band. Then while listening to the first track I definitely thought I was in for the typical indie band. But how do they say it these days "not so much?" As the album goes on it gets progressively better with a couple klunkers along the way.

I'll be the first one to tell you that I'm a sucker for female vocals and with Rachel Dannefer here I am again getting sucked in by her beautiful voice. She not only can sing very well, but brings a refreshing unique twist to her vocal style that other female fronted indie groups lack making them bland and the listener usually turning off the album within a track or 2. There is nothing complex about this band and their songs. Their new name Summer Hours (formerly known as La Pieta) basically sums up the sound and lyrics they're going for. Very simple relaxed songs with catchy hooks about the good times in life and of course relationships. In a way this would be a good album to put on for a small get together as background music and even good enough to get the attention of one of your friends and them to like it enough to ask you about it.

All in all "Alone Together" is a couple notches above your average female fronted indie group album. There's nothing special about it but the songs and structure of the album are solid and do the job they're suppose to while being very simple.
