Within The Ruins - Invade

Well, it seems like Victory Records has done it again with increasing the amount of shit bands on their roster. Their most recent add on(at least I think, nor do I care to investigate) is Massachusetts own Within The Ruins.

Within The Ruins is a band full of mediocrity and very generic technical metal. According to the bands bio they've spent years perfecting their technical sound when in reality it doesn't set them apart from the plethora of other tech metal bands out there.

There are, however, some original parts which are impressive but they are soon tossed away in the same guitar solo that seems like its found in almost every single track on the cd. Usually with bands like this, its the members of the band who play an instrument arent talentless. Unfortunately for them, with overly repeated guitar riffs, and a drummer who does nothing but blast beats and hardly any change in pace in the kick drums, the slight redemption of this band goes to the vocalist. If he could start a band that didn't follow in the same roots of Within The Ruins, there might be something.

Getting through each track was almost a struggle, but now that i've listened to it once, it'll probably be the last time as well. This band's best bet would either be just giving up or get off Victory Records, of course, not that it would really matter.

sub-par review of an album that probably won't be half as bad as you make it

Their last album wasn't really good. Talent doesn't translate into good song writing.
