Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg are the masterminds behind the Lonely Island. They are known for their work on Saturday Night Live. Turtleneck & Chain is the second album from these fake MCs. After hearing "I'm On a Boat ft. T-Pain" I was totally hooked on these guys. Their beats were pretty awesome especially being joke music and their lyrics are hilarious even after multiple listens. Because of this I was skeptical they could follow up such classics as "Dick in a Box" or "Jizz in My Pants." Because of their consistent quality I was also anxiously anticipating this release.

They had a bunch of great guests on their last record including T-Pain, Justin Timberlake, Jack Black and even Natalie Portman. The lack of quality that some of these artists are putting out makes them awesome inclusions in their comedic tracks making it even more hilarious. This time they have Akon, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Beck, John Waters and Michael Bolton(Yes, that Michael Bolton) as well as a few more.

The most important thing to me for a musical comedy album is the music has to be enjoyable otherwise it has no replay value for me. As long as it sounds good even the less funny songs can be enjoyed. This album has just as high quality beats and music as "Incredibad." If this was a serious endeavor, I am not sure it would hold up to the quality of other artists but to me they sound good.

As far as the comedy of this album, the jokes are funny as hell. All the songs are really funny and silly which put a smile on my face the whole time I was listening to it. Mainly you can expect such silliness as having to call "No Homo" when complimenting your male friends, going to Japan on the record company's money, a song about Jack Sparrow from the Pirates movie, having sex, and fighting Rocky. Its childish and contains toilet humor but seriously that's what makes it so funny.

There aren't as many instant classic tracks on this record as their previous effort. Maybe after a few listens I will warm up to it a bit more and find those gems. "No Homo" is a great track with its over the top look at men's inability to do or say things that might be taken as being gay. Michael Bolton's "Jack Sparrow" is another great one. This is a great comedy album with the nice treat of being a great fake hip-hop album. Not every track has great music behind it but the few tracks that aren't so great cannot ruin such a hilarious album. If you liked the last one, you will like this one too. If you haven't heard them, go check out some of their videos on youtube and laugh.

I got this a few days ago, after seeing Jack Sparrow on SNL. I love Shy Ronnie 2, ft Rihanna. Shit's hilarious!
