This split record is part of series put out by Volcom. There are 200 copies all hand numbered.

I am not well acquainted with the Melvins except their collaborations with Fantomas and Jello Biafra. This is a live version of the song "Suicide in Progress" which appeared on "Nude With Boots." I checked out the studio version to compare and the live version is actually better than the studio version. The unproduced live version has a bit of raw sound to it that suits them quite well. The vocals sound better live as well feeling more natural. The song itself is comparable of the collaborative efforts that I had heard.

Totimoshi's side is a nearly seven minute stoner metal song with some trippy vocals featuring Brent Hinds (Mastodon) and Scott Kelly (Neurosis, Shrinebuilder). The music is very influenced by the Melvins and makes a perfect partner for this split. The song is excellent and if this is a good representation of this band, they are a really solid band.

Overall this is quite a unique record and definitely for the fans of these bands. Personally it made me a fan of these bands showing off their excellence. It is really just a tidbit of their music but they are both great songs worth listening to.
