Ersatz GB is the 29th studio album from the long running band the Fall. Hailing from England the band has had an ever changing lineup since 1976. With Matt Smith the only constant member.
This album has a post punk/ electro noise rock style. Kind of like if Sonic Youth had keyboards. The guitars are abrasive and noisy but not overly distorted or heavy. It gives it a very listenable quality.
The vocals are mostly male but with some female vocals. The male vocals had the sort of talk-singing vocals that reminded me a bit of Nick Cave. The vocals fit extremely well and are fairly nice on the ears truly rounding out the album. The femal vocals were less appetizing for my palate. She sings fine but the song "Happi Song" that she sings all of, was my least favorite. The vocals extremely repetitive and borderline annoying.
This album is surprisingly enjoyable and well put together. As someone who only dabbles in the noise genre it caught my attention and made reviewing this album a pleasure. This is for anybody into postpunk or noise rock and wholeheartedly hope you check this out if you are.
