Old Wounds - II

Those crazy dudes in Old Wounds are at it again, releasing a new EP entitled "II". It was only back in February that I was reviewing their previous self-titled effort. The two new songs presented are an extension of the sound the band reached with their new lineup. The production is still rough around the edges but that's just the way these guys like it.

"Deviant Minds" starts with pounding drums, courtesy of Brandon Gallagher, who has only been drumming for Old Wounds since late last year (previously handled lead vocal duties). All three members are still sharing vocals, and they each have their own distinct style. Long time listeners are accustomed to Gallagher's bark, while bassist Kevin Lavaroni produces a higher pitched scream. Rounded out by guitarist Zak Kessler's low registered durf and you got yourself some vocal diversity.

Anybody familiar with the band's back catalog will be satisfied with "II", and newcomers should be drawn in as well. These guys tour their asses off and their hard work is paying off. I expect big things from them in the future, and who doesn't like a band who has not one but TWO Danny Devito inspired shirts???? "II" is out now on Arctic Night Records
