World War IX - Bender Royale

Brooklyn-based trash punks World War IX play sing/shout-a-long riddled, snarky-themed songs that are rarely longer than a minute and thirty seconds. With subject matter dealing with getting super fucked up ("Bender Royale"), the love of Oi ("Oi Revult"), and something SK users know all about, chat board know-it-alls ("Keyboard Commando"), this EP should entertain you for the 8 minutes it takes to play through it.

The five slimy tracks evoke the thrash of Black Flag, while celebrating the fun of early GG Allin. It's just enough to get the old schoolers fired up. I have never been to a World War IX but I imagine there's probably alot of synchronized finger pointing towards the stage. Yea, it's that kind of party... And it's one I'm fond of.

Even though the band plays a pretty straight forward brand of by-the-numbers classic punk, guitarist Justin Melkmann (who is also a segment producer on The Daily Show) has developed the unique concept of chronicling the band's euphoric highs and nauseating lows in his critically acclaimed comic book series "Earaches & Eyesores." He's also released "My Obsession with GG Allin" which is distributed worldwide through both ROIR and Angry Drunk Graphics.

In his new series "Slap In The Face" Melkmann animates versions of his comics and features the songs of WWIX and their NYC comrades. There's a huge community of fantastic music and art out there, and World War IX wants to celebrate it all in classic punk rock fashion.
