Members of Trash Talk and Touche Amore have come together to play noisy, powerviolence infused hardcore. Over the course of 13 minutes, the band plows through 8 tracks. Most of the material is noisy hardcore in the vein of bands like Nails and old Ceremony. "Hurt" does have some twists and turns along the way, with evil sounding sludge sprinkled throughout the frantic chaos. There really is no reinventing the wheel with this material, as most of "Hurt" could be mistaken for Nails b-sides. (To some, that's not necessarily a bad thing).
I can honestly say the members of DNF are better off concentrating on their primary bands. I can dig most of "Hurt" but at the end of the day, I hear a million bands that sound just like this. While side projects are fun, pumping out rehashed material kind of defeats the purpose. Throwing an HM-2 pedal in front of your amp will only get you so far, unless you're Black Breath. That band rules. "Hurt" is out now via High Anxiety/No Idea Records.
