18 Visions - Obsession

This band might as well rename themselves "Stone Temple Deftones". This band sounds completely different than the first time I heard them years ago. And I hate to say it, I'm sure everyone will hate me for it... but this shit fucking sucks. Make up your fucking mind: are we going to play towards the mainstream, or the underground? They can't seem to decide. They do have some heavy parts, and that is consistant with their old formula, but they also have some shitty sounding alterna-crap parts. Then they throw a breakdown in. What the fuck?

This band has the talent to make it whether they're in the underground or mainstream realm. But they seem to be stuck in the middle of trying to please everyone, and in the meantime failing miserably. Play one thing or another. The musicianship of this band is definetly good, they are well organised, but the music itself is just a big heaping pile of horse shit.

There are a few bright parts on this release, but there are also some parts that tempt me to throw it down a sewer. Chances are though, the rats would throw it back up at me and curse me out.
