Underoath - Define The Great Line

I tried really hard to set aside my bias against this band and go for some journalistic integrity for this review. But, after about 13 seconds into track 1, sorry, I couldn't.

This band has changed a lot since they started out, going from weird christian metal-vocaled stuff with keyboards to the second comming of Taking Back Sunday. Either way, it was always awful and made me go sleepy. This deal is nothing new. I guess its a bit "harder" than the last one, but still not inventive or original like their fan base tries to pass them off as. The psuedo-breakdowns are even more boring than the played out ones we hear in a lot of metalcore, and the fact that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM has a bed of that noise chord shit going on underneath it makes the whole album fucking unlistenable.

These chicks need to stop listening to Every Time I Die. Putting twang in your vocals is only cool if you're last name is Willams and your first name is Henry. Oh, and trying to sound all avant-garde only works if you have a little talent. The sung vocals are off-key (and don't tell me on purpose, anyone who sounds like shit on purpose deserves a slug between the eyes) and the screams sound exactly like all the other faggoty emo-core-bi-curious bags of shit currently flooding underground music.

And then theres the lyrics. Holy christ, the lyrics -
"They're watching, They're watching
I am being watched
This is overwhelming
Paranoia"

Fucking brilliantly put, wow, I've never heard anything so poignant and piercing into my soul. Suck a cock.

I also tried really hard to find something about this I could pick out and not hate with every cell of my being, but alas, this turd's as corny as it comes. Fuck this band, this style, and anyone who likes it.

I'm listening to the shit on their myspace page now .. it's better than the last album which doesnt say much. There is a second set of vocals that sound heaps meaty in that writing on the walls track that sounds much better than the high pitched homoerotica that they usually have.

This review is just comical. I came across it while googling "define the great line" reviews.

The writer of this review seems not to have even listened to the album before he wrote the review. What makes a good critic anyways? Should'nt a critic be prepared to make sound and unbiased opinions on a product, considering every type of audience that might come across his article? The ratings off to the side are especially amusing-

(overall score= 1/100)
(technicality= 3/100)
(vocals= 1/100)

Forgive me if I sound a bit judgmental, but these scores would be more consistent with a young 3 year old banging on its older sibling's instrument, rather than a touring band that are considered professional musicians.

I call for a change of critic, that whom for one, is able to structure a complete sentence, as well as include cooresponding paragraphs supporting his claims with examples.

Not only did this review pain my eyes to read, it also is one of the only negative reviews of "define the great line" I've read on the internet. I hope everyone will go out and listen to the album and construct their own opinions about the album rather reading this review and moving on.

This critic is obviously not a professional writer judging from his style. I see this as an abuse of power if the writer is in a position to make reviews that might swing so many in one direction. He should have shown a least bit of bipartisan out of respect of his audience instead of insulting those who might think otherwise. In closing, I give this review a rating of:

(overall score= 1/100)
(grammar= 3/100)
(punctuation= 1/100)
(spelling= 2/100)
(professionalism= 1/100)

Dear faggot nerdarios,

Does a bad review make you not like the music? NO.

Criticism happens.

Fucking deal with it. Bitching about a person reviewing an album online makes you look like the biggest geek ever. Just tuck your dick between your legs, put on some man panties, and listen to your Horse the Band album while buttfucking your miniature poodle.

kids care way to much either way about this shit. like it then listen to it and shut up about it. if you hate it then dont listen and shut up about it.

the fact that theres assholes wasting time complaining about it and there fans shows how much of lives you have. and the asshole sitting here defending it to them is just as bad. im also just as bad for stating my opinion on the 2 sides of thsi well pretty useless matter. throw underoath into the bin of cool to hate bands

hey buddy, your opinion sucks ass... this cd is amazing and definitely not a disappointment in any way. every single song on the cd is good, and it sounds nothing like every time i die by the way. the lyrics are awesome and well written and a million times better than anything you could ever write. the breakdowns dont sound the same at all, they are all awesome. so how about you go listen to your punk music and stop trying to judge music that is good.

underoath7777, you are the biggest faggot i have ever seen in my life!!! this cd sucks, the breakdowns are definently the same so you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, thesee are the stupidest lyrics ever. the lyrics make no god damn sense at all. they should start paying someone to write their lyrics. this band sucked since dallas left and spencer came in. spencer's scream gets a little redundent after a little while of listening to him scream. and i absolutuly hate aaron's voice when he sings. it is whiny annoying and he just sucks at it. unless dallas comes back than this bnd sucks. does anyone know if dallas is in a new band?

uhhhhh

That review is very well written. I didn't fuck up, I didn't make shit up, my grammar and punctuation are borderline perfect. I have examples to back up my claims (did you not see where I showed everyone the lyrics?), and I have been paid in the past for things I have written. This isn't my best work, but it's amusing and gets the point across.

In essence, fuck your mother.

It's a tossup as to which one of you sucks more. In the end, you're both just lame.
